I am currently a teacher/librarian with the Delta School District. I completed my undergraduate degree in English and History at Simon Fraser University in 1999. I completed my teaching degree at the University of British Columbia in 2001, and I will complete my Masters Degree in Education at the University of British Columbia inSpring of 2017.My Masters degree has allowed me to further research Indigenous education, a topic that has been at the centre of my career since I began teaching in 2001. I have worked in Coast Salish communities as an educational support for children and their families, as well as a curriculum consultant. I was also asked to speak at a series of dialogues sponsored by Reconciliation Canada in the fall of 2015. IO am interested in furthering Coast Salish the place of Coast Salish languages, history, cultural practice, and worldview into curriculum across grades and subject area in British Columbia schools. While the new curriculum calls for this incorporation, educators lack the resources, knowledge and support to do this in an authentic way.I have presented at professional development conferences in the Maple Ridge, Langley and Delta School District that offer educators examples and opportunities to develop and implement place -based resources for all classrooms.
