Carolinas Division

Personally oversee the implementation of both Metro and Long Haul outside plant projects spanning hundreds of miles across NC, SC, VA, and TN. Utilize a variety of systems to process and report work activities, OSP facility inventory, documentation of projects, and manage various budgets to include new construction, route maintenance, and cable protection.Maintain the security of the OSP network, both aerial and underground, throughout areas of responsibility by managing cable location, locating contractors, and initiating protection activities. Foster strong working relationships with other carriers, local and state municipalities, and building owners and property managers on construction of new building adds, augments, and cable relocations.Conceptualize network designs, collaborate with upstream groups to complete fiber quality assurance requests, project cost estimations, award contractor bids, execute permits, and manage construction of new building adds, augments, and cable relocations. Monitor infrastructure builds and augments while reviewing punch lists and ensuring work meets industry construction standards. Initiate and enforce project timelines, prepare and track budgets, and provide detailed weekly status reports.Obtain and retain reliable contractors for construction and splicing the OSP infrastructure while producing detailed fiber splice records, accurate network topography records, and precise fiber mapping for cable protection.Direct emergency restoration and mitigation activities required for the OSP network. This includes fiber optic damages, natural disasters, power failures and other events.Provide on the job divisional training to employees and oversee contractors to ensure the proper method and procedures of facility protection and maintenance are followed. This includes the use of locating equipment, use of Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR), and troubleshooting tone generation in the field.
