Vice President, Corporate Accounts & Patient ServicesCovis Pharma Jul 2014 - Jun 2022Zug, ChPROMOTED FROM: Sr. Director – National Payer & Trade Accounts (09/18 – 04/20); Sr. Director – Trade Operations (07/14 – 09/18).I spearheaded a $1B portfolio of rare, specialty, retail, and oncology products at this global specialty pharmaceutical company. Besides implementing Covis’ payer strategy, I developed its trade, channel, and full-line and specialty distribution plans. One of my key contributions at this role was relaunching and boosting Alvesco’s profits after its acquisition. To do so, I initiated strategic payer contracts in a highly competitive target market. I furthered full patient conversion and the utilization of 1.2M-1.6M units annually by securing a multi-$M contract with a large HMO.I also averted >$10M in potential distribution fees for Alvesco by shifting multiple pharmacy partners from indirect to direct agreements. Despite its <1% retail market share, I augmented Alvesco’s units by 76%; YOY net sales by 70%; and payer access score from <57% to 63% nationally in 9 months. Within ~4 years, I forwarded the product’s YOY revenue growth from $20M to $70M.In addition, I improved and retained Makena’s market share, another successful product at Covis. To this end, I standardized an incoherent distribution channel. Specifically, I streamlined the hub program, redefined state and commercial payer agreements, and networked with specialty pharmacies with external field representation.I grew Makena’s performance despite several challenges, such as aggressive competition, a NOOH from the FDA, and removal of the pre-acquisition sales force. Moreover, I optimized product allocation to mitigate churn and patient risk following the product’s stockout. Eventually, I eliminated all roadblocks and led the team that increased Makena’s growth by 12% over the previous year.Key -
Director – Trade Accounts & DistributionVivus Inc Apr 2012 - Jul 2014Campbell, California, UsAt this clinical development and commercialization company, I designed and instituted a unique distribution model for Qsymia, the organization’s first obesity medication in 13+ years.Initially, I administered a limited distribution network with specialty and mail-order pharmacies. While doing so, I acquired FDA approval for the product by implementing a specialized REMS program.Afterward, I drove FDA negotiations to modify the program, enabling Qsymia to gain retail access. To mitigate compliance concerns, I instated rigid wholesale procedures and executed an education plan for pharmacy personnel.Ultimately, I developed Qsymia’s retail channel within 2.5 months in lieu of the usual 6 months by deploying the program end-to-end. Additionally, I facilitated the establishment of 35K retail locations and 3 wholesalers in 5 months (the proxy program took 2.5 years). To boost patient access and reimbursement, I launched the Qsymia Access Program consisting of a hub, augmenting covered TRx from 35% to 50%.Key -
National Account Manager, Trade AccountsEli Lilly And Company Dec 2009 - Apr 2012Indianapolis, Indiana, UsPROMOTED FROM: Account Manager – Specialty Pharmacy (04/08 – 12/09); Pharmaceutical Sales Representative (07/03 – 04/08).Here, I furthered $3.8B in annual sales by supervising the complete product portfolio across all channels, including retail, wholesale, and specialty pharmacy and distribution. I was recruited to the trade accounts division as the only individual to oversee all specialty pharmacy and distribution accounts. At Eli Lilly, I initiated the first-ever internal product transfer between AmerisourceBergen and Oncology Supply. This enabled me to prevent a $3.1M loss following Gemzar’s patent expiration.I also established a contracting strategy for specialty pharmacies by leading a Six Sigma Green Belt project, improving process efficiency and resource allocation as a result.Key
