Brandy Barnes, MSW, is a diabetes patient advocate who has lived with Type 1 diabetes since 1990. Over the last 25 years, she gained experience in the areas of business development, analysis, strategic planning, sales/marketing, relationship management, diversity and inclusion, and customer service —in both the nonprofit and for-profit industries. From 2008-2015, she led DiabetesSisters, a self-founded 501c3 nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the healthcare system's gap in resources for women with diabetes. As CEO, she managed all operations, overseeing the performance of three employees and 200+ volunteers while also raising over $1.5 million to support the organization. Under her leadership, the organization grew to and served more than 300K people with diabetes annually. Her contributions to the field of diabetes were acknowledged in Diabetes Forecast magazine's annual article "12 People to Know in Diabetes" in October 2014 and in December 2012. She has also been featured in All You, Diabetic Living, and Diabetes Health magazines.She has presented at AADE's Annual Conference and the ADA Scientific Sessions and has been interviewed by many television and radio stations. The American Diabetes Association published Brandy's first book, "A Woman's Guide to Diabetes: A Path to Wellness." A prolific writer, Brandy has also authored many other books and articles on the topic of diabetes, including JDRF's "Pregnancy Toolkit" and "Bridging the Gap: The Value Bringing Together Women with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes." Brandy joined Insulet Corp in 2015- and earned The Winner's Circle for four consecutive years (2016,’17, ‘18, ‘19) and President's Club (2016, 2019) two years. She was awarded MVP of her district (2016), promoted to Senior Territory Manager (2020), and served on both Insulet's Customer Service Field Advisory Board (2016) and Marketing FAB (2017, 2020). She recently completed a two-year rotation as Senior Program Manager of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion at Insulet Corporation, and is now serving as Government National Account Manager on the Market Access Team.
