I am Founder of AI for Peace, a San Francisco based think tank working at the intersection of artificial intelligence, peace, human security, democracy, human rights, and humanitarian action. We research the benefits, risks, and ethical implications of exponential technologies. Our vision is a future in which AI creates lasting peace. I am particularly excited about combining data-driven and human-centric approaches to solving some of the biggest global challenges:a) creating peaceful, just, and inclusive societies, b) eliminating poverty and hunger, c) combating climate change and its impacts, and d) enabling sustainable development and sustainable humanitarian action. I am a political scientist, expert in international security, international development policy and peacebuilding. I have 13 years of experience working on issues of Fragility, Conflict and Violence, at the humanitarian-peace-development nexus. I am founder of the Center for Exponential Technologies and Founding Member of Sustainable Healthy Habitats and Healthy Humans for Peace. I consult and provide strategic support to International Organizations, Governments and Civil Society Organizations on the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual reality, and related technologies, with emphasis on diversity, ethical implications, human security, and accountability to affected populations. My goal is introducing AI as a multidisciplinary field, where diverse voices can influence its creation, and to ensure staying committed to standards of human-centered AI development.
