I've been self-employed since 1986, and have done a number of different things in that time, but the common theme/thread to all my professional experience is education. Since leaving the high school classroom in 1984, I've continued to teach various computer-related subjects.Continuing that theme, I own/operate a social media consulting/training firm, YatMedia LLC. We are taking clients interested in using Social Media to grow their businesses. I work with a knowledgeable team to develop social media/social networking strategies for clients, and my natural cynicism balances their enthusiasm.I also teach, 2-3 weeks a month, for Hitachi Vantara, through Merit Career Development. I teach a wide range of subjects for Hitachi storage customers. Additionally, I've been a street railway enthusiast ever since I was a small child, riding the Perley A. Thomas streetcars from the cemeteries to downtown with my parents to go shopping on Saturdays. In 2004, I wrote a book on the history of New Orleans' Canal streetcar line. The plan was to use the book as an impetus to start this effort, but the storm became a bit of a speed bump in the process. As part of the process of rebuilding our city, NOSRA's mission will be to educate on the importance and value of our historic streetcars, and to raise funds to preserve and restore several of the NORTA-owned streetcars currently not in service.I plan to combine my expertise in education, courseware development, Internet development, business networking, public speaking, and small business management with my passion for history and streetcars to make this venture a success for streetcar fans and the community at large.BOOKS: Author of six books on the history of New Orleans, two Urban Fantasy novels set in contemporary New Orleans, and two Young Adult (YA) novels. I've also written numerous articles for technical as well as general-interest publications.
