About Brannon Ellis
My wife will tell you I'm interested in everything. I've had a variety of jobs—some of them too long ago or too obscure to bother listing here. But at heart, I'm a theologian who brings theology into everything I do—which for me has meant living with one foot in the academy and the other in the professional world. I love learning and teaching, talking and writing about God and his ways, and I love exercising my God-given skills and interests in a professional environment.After finishing my PhD in theology (amid quite a lot of New Testament and Greek teaching) at the University of Aberdeen, I took what I thought would be a quick detour into Christian publishing, accepting an editorial role with InterVarsity Press. That detour turned out to be a decade.Much of my time in the publishing world was devoted to leading the fantastic team at Lexham Press to become one of the fastest-growing and best-regarded evangelical presses out there. After I'd been leading the publishing house for a few years, our parent company (Faithlife) combined the Lexham and Mobile Education departments under my leadership to become the Original Content department.Now, as Executive Editor of Modern Reformation for Sola Media, I use my professional experience within a missional non-profit organization to lead a brand whose tagline is “Thinking Theologically”—which is, it turns out, my very favorite activity.
