If I wasn't a CFO I could imagine being an architect, pairing shape and form to construct a building that’s beautiful and functional.I began my career as an Accounting Analyst at Fidelity Investments. With a solid foundational experience supporting me, I progressed to be a Controller under a well-respected CFO at Sofinnova Ventures. 5AM Ventures followed and was my entrée into being the boss.None of these experiences would have been possible, however, without the foresight to see great potential and accordingly, take risks. Joining True Ventures at its inception required a leap of faith—one that has certainly paid off. Today, I am able to work in a position that utilizes my skills and experience; is in line with my values; and offers the opportunity to work alongside a great team.In my role today I combine the foundational experience gained in previous positions with my ability to spot potential in my work with early-stage Venture firms and entrepreneurs. On a hands-on level I managed HR, payroll, and accounts payable/receivables and made sure things ran smoothly. More strategically, I managed the entire M&A process from assisting with due diligence to supplying all relevant information and guiding the acquisition process from the seller side. What I learned most in this role was importance of having a solid financial platform in place to make the M&A transition as smooth and painless for all parties. This became exceptionally transparent when, surprisingly, the company got into an M&A process a lot earlier than most players anticipated. Personally, I got immense satisfaction in providing the CEO of About.me the additional comfort of knowing that everything operationally and financially was taken care of. -

There was a lot of hands-on management involved in this position. My biggest benefit here was that I came in while things were unorganized and rolled up my sleeves to get to work. I was also instrumental in supporting the new CEO in making the transition to an outsource company. This was one of my first steps into the role of supporting true venture's start-up companies in setting up the right infrastructure from the start. I learned that I really enjoyed the challenges of start-up finance work because of the ability to wear many hats within the organization. -
