I am working as a Field Engineer at Orion Marine Group in Tampa, Florida which specializes in Heavy Civil Marine Construction and Engineering. The focus of my work includes working closely with project management, solving problems in the field, and working with a number of vocations. Our work includes construction of seawalls, docks, marinas, dredging, piers, and various other Civil Engineering projects. I am currently working on a pier construction project in Andros Island, Bahamas.My college coursework involved a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio University in Geographic Information Science. This involved concentration in Physical, Geospatial and Quantitative Analysis courses, which included GIS Mapping through ArcGIS and AutoCAD software programs. I also have completed extensive coursework in Construction Science from The University of Tennessee. Construction Science is a blended program of science, engineering, business, architecture and technology that provides a strong, broad background in construction management. This has given me the opportunity to combine my GIS skills with Pre-Construction, Estimating and Construction Management. My Senior Capstone Research Project involved studying the Impact of Hydraulic Fracking on the Local Economy in Southeast Ohio. Throughout the project, I made contacts, conducted interviews, researched data, created maps/charts and presented my final results. In addition, I earned a GIS Internship for Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership where I worked as a Campus Mapping Technician. My role was to improve the University campus visualization and mapping services which supported student recruiting efforts and efficiency of OU services to better plan and improve the campus. I was also responsible for collecting data for the Columbiana County Tax Acreage Project using ArcGIS Pro. My coursework in GIS, Construction Science, and experience in Engineering has given me the opportunity to apply my knowledge and perform various functions for a multitude of projects as a Project Field Engineer.
