Profile bio

About Brayan Perez

My passion for bioengineering was ignited during my participation in the summer internship program offered by Johns Hopkins Hospital, where students of color were introduced to the diverse career opportunities within STEM. This invaluable experience provided me with a glimpse into the dynamic world of the healthcare industry. Witnessing the groundbreaking medicinal solutions developed by bioengineers deeply intrigued me and instilled a commitment to eventually join them. Coming from a first generation Latinx immigrant household, I oftentimes found that Latinx and Black individuals frequently encountered barriers preventing them from accessing adequate care they deserve within healthcare. Therefore, I am determined in my pursuit of a career in bioengineering, fully aware that with the guidance of professionals and advisors, I can play an active role in making a tangible difference in healthcare outcomes for marginalized communities.
