Over the years since early high school, I have had several jobs during the summers in between school years. As I started out umpiring baseball and softball tournaments on the weekends, while also doing grounds crew during the weeks for the same complex. With that allowing me to gain knowledge on people skills and logical decision making. Along with learning people skills, I was a server for almost a year before covid became nationwide issue in the spring of 2020. The summer of 2020 I worked for Ford Motor Company as a package handler at the parts distribution plant in Kansas City. The job consisted of picking packages from warehouse shelves, then placing them in a big plastic bin in an organized manner. After the following school year, I started working for a cattle farmer in the early spring of 2021 through the fall of 2021. That was a big learning experience with being able to work long, hard hours building shelters and adding several hundred feet of fencing to section off cattle. The following spring of 2022, I started working for a rental company in Warrensburg, MO where I attended college. My role is to remodel the homes/apartments after the tenants have moved out. Our job consists of deck work, painting, flooring, drywall, and landscaping. The summer before my senior year I got an internship at Lake Lotowana in Lees Summit, MO as Water Patrol. It was a new experience that led to meeting new people and how every interaction is different, so being able to stay open-minded was very important to maintain a positive environment. Also making sure that laws/rules were enforced in a positive way rather than a negative way, I believe people tend to respect the regulations as well as the enforcer more if being told in a positive way. Being able to stay organized and professional was important, as it allowed for me to maintain that behavior into the classroom but also in the real world.
