I graduated as a student-athlete at the University of Iowa on the baseball team all while maintaining a 3.35 cumulative GPA and a B.A in Economics with a minor in Criminology. Being a student-athlete comes with its challenges but I have been able to handle the workload in both academics and athletics. The life skills taught to me through baseball have been an incredible experience throughout my career athletically and personally. The main skills I have been given are hard work, managing a large workload, leadership, and how to deal with failure. Dealing with failure is the greatest skill baseball has given me because it is a game where you are going to fail the majority of the time and you will also fail a lot in life but it is how you are able to overcome that failure that separates you from the crowd.I am currently a Grain Originator at River Valley Cooperative in Davenport, Iowa. My duties are to communicate market and company information to farmers, ensure members are set up for success in their grain marketing strategies, and to purchase grain for the cooperative. I have gained valuable skills such as customer service, market analysis, and computer system management.I have worked for my family mowing business for 11 years where I have been in charge of creating a schedule, managing clients, handling payments, transporting the equipment, and mowing the lawns. I have also had experience in snow removal, tree trimming/removal, as well as general landscaping. This job has taught me valuable skills such as client communication, leadership, and physical labor. Another valuable skill I have acquired through the mowing business is driving a truck and trailer. I have been the main trailer driver in the business for 5 years without any incidents.
