Worked along the Assistant Superintendent and Head Superintendent in daily duties as well as working with the crew on majority of days. Got to aerate some tees with a PTO driven Verti-Drain system. Worked alongside the spray tech and saw their way of doing their sprays. Eventually sprayed greens at Bandon Preserve. Helped operate top dressers and loaders, as well as brush, and verticut mowing. Spent a week as the fill in Assistant Superintendent at Pacific Dunes and got some very valuable experience learning to work with a crew and how to use your strengths and avoid some weaknesses. This experience gave me confidence in my leadership abilities, and will help to further my skills in managing a crew. After that spent the last month and a good portion of afternoons in the beginning of the summer working at the newly constructed Shorty’s par 3 course. I assisted in installing sprinkler heads for the bunkers and green side areas, before doing final preparation. The beautiful part of Bandon is it’s natural sand dunes that they were able to use and shape around to make the course. Getting to talk with some of the architects on the project was really inspiring, and definitely gives a different perspective to what most think of when they see a piece of property. We did final prep on all areas and used extreme caution on the greens. Spreading of fertilizers and then raking it in before hydro seeding over the top. Was a part of 15 of the 19 holes before coming back for school.
