Aurora NanoDevices Inc. manufactures and supplies high quality, calibration systems for atomic force microscopy imaging. Founded in 2001, our systems are now found in hundreds of scanning probe microscopes through North American, Europe, and Japan.

As part of my sabbatical, I worked as part of a teaching team delivering content within the first year engineering design curriculum (APSC 100/101).

As part of my sabbatical, I was involved in two projects at UBC:1. Investigating growth characteristics of carbon nanotubes through the Nanostructure group within the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.2. Teaching within UBC's first-year engineering design curriculum (APSC 100)

Research projects included controlled growth of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT), electrical characterization of multi- and single walled carbon nanotubes, and using MWCNT meshes in GC/LC systems for low concentration chemical sensing.

Laboratory coordinator for 2nd year digital electronics lab (10 sections, ~200 students and 7 TAs). Sept-Dec/1999 and Sept - Dec/2000
