I am currently an Endowed Scholar of Diversity in Leadership and Public Relations as well as an Associate Professor at Jacksonville State University, with teaching interests in public relations, media ethics and communication law, and a main research focus in women in executive leadership positions in communication and public relations. I received my Ph.D. in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and Management from the University of Alabama, with my doctoral dissertation focused on the leadership of female Chief Communication Officers. I have also presented research in this area at various communication conferences, including AEJMC, PRSA ICON, and SSCA, and published scholarly work in academic journals such as the Journal of Public Relations Research, PR Journal, PR Inquiry, and Communication and Sport. In 2023, I was inducted as a Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center Fellow. I have also been an active member in Alabama PRSA, SSCA PR Division, AEJMC Public Relations Division and the Commission on the Status of Women as well as the PRSA Educator's Academy. I additionally served as the Faculty Adviser of the PRSSA Chapter at Jacksonville State University from 2019-2024. During this time, the chapter was the recipient of the 2022 Chapter Development Award and 2024 Outstanding Chapter Award from Alabama PRSA as well as the Star Chapter Award in 2023 and 2024. This chapter also received its first Dr. Frederick H. Teahan Award in 2023 for Chapter Development from National PRSSA.
