Fill in for teachers, teacher’s assistants or one-on-one aides that could not make it to work on a specific day. I work with students of all ages and all disabilities, from pre-k to twelfth grade. I work to provide students with a successful future in their education.

For my first placement as a student teacher, I worked in a second grade inclusion class. The students ranged from highly able to way below grade level (reading at a kindergarten level). For seven weeks I worked with my cooperating teacher as well as a special education teacher to figure out the right methods of teaching these particular students. The students have improved dramatically within the course of the seven weeks that I was there.I also was able to gain a lot of behavior management techniques-something that I felt that I lacked going into student teaching. My cooperating teacher worked with me to make sure I was comfortable and made the environment a safe and an easy transition for when I took over the classroom full time. To this day, I still go back to the classroom on Fridays to help out with centers.My second placement was in a 3-5 special education-self-contained classroom. Although very well behaved, all of the students had emotional issues that needed to be addressed before academics. Within this experience, I learned proper ways in dealing with very frequent temper tantrums and allowing myself to breathe and not be worked up over the little things that my students did.

I work at an old one room schoolhouse. I provide tours and share experiences of those who have gone to the school before it was made into a museum.

Assist students with questions regarding academics, provide office support to faculty and other division staff, answer phone calls and direct calls to appropriate sources, handle clerical functions of the office.
