Provides support for conservation practices that protect and enhance the county's soil and water resources. Responsibilities include the following:· Conduct subwatershed analyses (SWAs) and stormwater retrofit analyses (SRAs) to identify high-priority areas for urban and agricultural BMPs· Compile erosion inventories for the county's surface waters and assist with corresponding bank stabilization projects · Assist with practices that reduce invasive species and enhance native biodiversity in aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems· Engage landowners and the general public in local conservation efforts

· Designed wetland ecology studies in conjunction with research scientists· Trained and led field crews of up to 6 persons to survey aquatic vegetation, fish and amphibians, macroinvertebrates, waterfowl, sediment, and water chemistry at lakes and wetlands throughout Western Minnesota· Conducted landscape-level analyses for study sites using remote sensing techniques in ESRI ArcMap· Designed and led undergraduate class on 28-d toxicological experiment in the laboratory; assisted students with corresponding data analysis and reports· Analyzed insecticides in wetland sediment using SPE and ELISA techniques · Assisted principal investigators with data management, statistical analyses, and dissemination efforts via publications and scientific conference presentations· Trained and supervised student workers on invertebrate processing and identification in the laboratory · Led the development of standard operating procedures for macroinvertebrate sample collection and processing · Collaborated with a diverse range of professionals from Augsburg University, Bemidji State University, U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, MNDNR, and private land owners · Maintained QA/QC processes for field work, data management, and laboratory practices · Communicated with scientific and public audiences about project objectives and findings

· Conducted chemical and biological monitoring at local streams and wetlands · Maintained trails, bridges, and recreational areas throughout the park· Surveyed nesting boxes and assisted with songbird banding · Worked with a small group to complete landscaping, construction, and invasive species removal projects· Improved familiarity with sustainable technology and urban, non-profit park management techniques· Presented to the board of directors and assisted with community education efforts
