IslandWood’s mission is to provide exceptional learning experiences and inspire lifelong environmental and community stewardship. Our innovative outdoor learning experiences include the School Overnight Program (SOP) for elementary-aged students in a multi-day residential school program on our 255-acre sustainably designed Bainbridge Campus. The SOP Coordinator manages all logistics, materials, and curriculum for SOP, acting as a resource for school groups and teachers and resource/advisor for graduate student instructors during their practicum.

In this role, I supported and often co-taught alongside a lead teacher in the Pre-Kindergarten classroom. I would assist in designing curriculum, delivering lessons and facilitating learning opportunities for students between 4 and 5 years old. I also supported classroom management and performed other necessary tasks such as set up, running snacks and meals and cleaning.

During the summer months, IslandWood is host to an expansive age range of learners. My role during programming is to deliver the summer programs curriculum to students spanning from preschool up to sixth grade. Additionally, IslandWood welcomes a cohort of interns to work alongside our lead instructors to grow and learn together. In a newly established role as Intern Liaision, I ensure that we as a community are cultivating an environment for the interns to benefit from this experience as much as possible.

As chapter president I handle all administrative duties and oversee all other positions within the chapter. In addition, it is my job to make sure our chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi is heading in a progressive and successful direction.
