I started at AppMan as a backend developer, which was my first full-time job after I finished studying. During my first months working there, I had to research continuous deployment (CD) technologies and I laid the foundation for the current company DevOps standard. The deployment stack I worked with is Terraform, Kong ingress, Kubernetes, CircleCI, ArgoCD and Istio service mesh.My first project was a Spring Boot backend API for a sales application. Around this API I developed several internal libraries for Spring Boot that were later re-used and another NodeJS micro-service to integrate with a previously existing service. This application was deployed in AWS cloud using the previously mentioned DevOps technologies. After an internal recruitment I changed position to full stack developer in one of AppMan’s SaaS teams. Mainly because of my Spring Boot skills which I used in an initial smaller project combined with React. Later I worked on a Line and Facebook chat automation which brought some new things to learn for me such as GraphQL with AWS AppSync and DynamoDB. Again a React frontend with redux-saga and multiple NodeJS backend micro-services.

At KdG, it is mandatory to do an internship, and my ambition was to go international and find something on the other side of the globe. This is how I ended up at Codium as a full stack intern. The project was a warehouse management application, Django Backend and a Flutter frontend. Both frameworks I had never used before. I also got my first experience deploying in the cloud using docker-compose and learned a lot about mobile applications. I became very interested in Flutter and have since used this for personal projects as my go-to frontend framework.

In my second year of studying, I felt like I needed to do something with the things I had learned and started looking for alternative student jobs. (I worked in a burger restaurant for a very long time before). After some networking I got an opportunity to help out at the IT department of PPA. My tasks were to update the infrastructure and give support to employee’s struggling with their computers.
