As a social studies and Spanish teacher at Lake Oswego High School, I have 20+ years of classroom experience. Outside of the classroom, I serve as the Oregon State Lead for SubjectToClimate as a connector between educators and the Oregon Climate Education Hub, where I also have published several lessons: “Environmental Restoration” and “Ecocide Unit Plan: Ecocide and International Law, Is Climate Change Ecocide? And Climate Solutions to Ecocide”. As part of SubjectToClimate I also co-lead a Thought Leaders Committee with fellow founding members of Oregon Educators for Climate Education (OECE). I advocated for climate education in the 2023 Oregon legislative session with OECE and students (SB 854 stalled in the Education Committee). I collaborate across the state as a member of the Youth Voice and Climate Education Committee of Eastern Oregon Climate Change Coalition. I served many years on the Oregon Green Schools Board and the LOSD Sustainability Advisory Board. In Lake Oswego I work with LOHS Green Team, the LO Sustainability Network, and Oswego Lake Watershed Council. I was a recipient of an OEA Presidential Citation for Excellence in Creating Just, Joyful School in 2024 and LO Rotary Service above Self Excellence in Education award in 2021, and was nominated for Oregon Teacher of the Year in 2023.
