During my time with Barrick, I worked in several different roles, completed the Engineer-in-Training program (Compass 1), and attended various Leadership Programs. I held many roles during this position.Short Range Mine Planning:• Managed daily and weekly plans for miners and Backfill crews• Developed monthly rolling 3-Month Forecasts that were achievable, logical and met all budgeted and forecasted targets• Completed annual budget plans that covered all mining activities in the next 2.5 years (completed this 5 times in my time with Barrick)• Designed new cut-and-fill headings and stopes, sequenced these activities with current and future mining activities• Visited underground working areas to monitor progress of active mining areas and adhesion to design, as well as to develop plans in response to issues that arise during the mining cycle• In order to ensure the best possible mine plans, I worked with many groups on a regular basis including Operations, Exploration Geology, Survey, Ventilation, Rock Mechanics, Electricians, Materials Management, Production Drilling, Drill & Blast, and Projects GroupsSpecial Projects Engineer:• Orchestrated mining and development plans for permitting of a new mine, El Niño Underground, and helped develop a plan from startup to mine closure, finalized plans to present to BLM & NDEP, while working with SRK through completion• Looked at feasibility of mining and alternative project options for various potential projectsVentilation Engineer:• Performed ventilation surveys to balance and update Vent Maps• Look into ventilation optimization scenarios and proposed vent raises and other changesLong Range Mine Planning:• Used the block model to design long range mining areas, both cut and fill and stoping• Improving the accuracy of variable inputs into the budgeting softwareOther Roles included:• Dewatering Representative• Underground Surveyor• Cross Training on Crew as UG Miner & Shift Supervisor
