As a person in long term recovery, I have dedicated my career as a harm reductionist to advocating for equitable access to healthcare for drug users, anti-stigma education, and policy reform. My work experience includes project management, inpatient substance use case management, HIV/HCV testing and linkage to care, syringe services, community outreach, direct care to disenfranchised folks, and grant compliance.I am a confident leader with experience in project management within the non-profit and mutual aid realm. I currently act as the Chair for the Planning Committee of the Southeastern Michigan HIV/AIDS Coalition focusing on bringing HIV education to the community.My expertise is in harm reduction, HIV prevention, advocacy, and public speaking. I am currently working under two contracts with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services facilitating educational series on PrEP, harm reduction practices, and queer inclusive sexual health. In addition to educational offerings, I provide onsite HIV testing for the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (CDC) team. I have worked with Ascension Health and Wayne State University in developing trainings for students in the medical, public health, or social work professions to better their understanding of substance users and how to provide care to harder to reach populations.I honor the lives of others by doing my part in advocating for change and lobbying for decriminalization and more ethical responses to drug use and poverty.Sustainable change as a result of abolishing systems and replacing them with community care, restorative justice, mental health professionals, and non-punitive responses to crisis is my professional goal. One that I have a vested interest in seeing through.
