HYDROGEOLOGIST / PROJECT MANAGERCompliance / Risk Management / Problem Visualization / Remediation / Site & Program Management / Contract Management / Litigation Support / Developed and implemented comprehensive strategies to improve financial and technical performance of remediation systems resulting in a reduction in costs while maintaining overall system performance. Provide data mining and visualization solutions to focus remediation systems, reduce cost and risk through a better understanding of the site conditions. When stakeholders can visualize and understand a problem, more cost effective decisions are made.Remediation of Chlorinated Solvents - Designed and implemented an enhanced bioremediation system to reduce concentrations of 1,2-dichloroethane concentrations in groundwater. The initial costs of the system were in excess of $1M. Actual implementation costs were $120K by utilizing existing infrastructure from the groundwater pump and treat system resulting in the reduction of DCA levels from 540 ug/L to less that 5 ug/L within 6 months. No rebound has been observed in subsequent monitoring.Management - Negotiated a master services agreement with a national laboratory for analytical services for a portfolio of petroleum bulk storage sites across Canada. The anticipated costs saving for the year 2014 of ~$500K are based on estimates of sample volumes for all sites compared with previous sample costs.Risk Management - Developed a groundwater risk model to design a remediation system for acidic lead laden groundwater. The final solution involved implementation of a phytoremediation option which was accepted by the USEPA and implemented with a $40M remedial cost reduction. Strategy - Project Manager and Hydrogeologist for a chlorinated solvent site. Reduced overall closure costs by $2M over 5 years. Currently negotiating a closure strategy for no further action with the state. Anticipated closure, June 2018.
