During the 3+ years at LogObject, I substantially contributed to the conception, design and business development (pre-sales activities) of LogObject current technologies and products portfolio: LOTraffic®, mLogistics® and mobile robotics. These three branches represent now the core business of LogObject, allowed for the company’s successful turnaround and laid the basis for its future prospects. mLogistics® is an IT platform based on smartphones (Java MIDP), which allows in-the-field personnel (such as service technicians) to be guided and monitored in soft-real-time. LOTraffic® is a patented, multi-functional, traffic sensing appliance that allows for a plethora of information to be extracted from the traffic flow. Mobile robots are used as autonomous guided vehicles (AGVs) for unmanned warehousing activities.

In the 5+ years at the Institute of Robotics, I explored system software strategies, which allow for a more rapid development and a more dependable execution of mission critical, embedded software systems. The research yielded to my Ph.D. and was demonstrated with the implementation of a novel real-time operating system called XO/2, featuring strong-typing, automatic memory management and reclamation, deadline-driven scheduling and WCET estimation. The system has been deployed by many academic institutions and to a limited extent in the industry for complex mechatronics products.
