I am thrilled to join the Natural Curiosity team at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study Laboratory School, OISE-University of Toronto, which is dedicated to promoting Indigenous perspectives and land-based inquiry in schools across Turtle Island. Natural Curiosity 2nd Edition: A Resource for Educators: The Importance of Indigenous Perspectives in Children’s Environmental Inquiry is a best seller among teachers and educators seeking to support children with entering into a meaningful and lasting relationship with nature. Play is part of Natural Curiosity, naturally! So are Truth and Reconciliation, care for all living things and empathic reciprocal relations between teachers, students and the land.

PLAYbynature is a new initiative dedicated to advancing play policy and planning in Toronto, Ontario and Canada.

Established, fundraised and directed POP UP Adventure Play, ParkPLAY, Outdoor Play and Learning OPAL/SchoolPLAY, now active at 36 schools, 3 school boards and growing exponentially each year. Worked with small and large agencies to develop and appropriately adapt policies, strategies and implementation plans for play, customized to their particular settings. Partnership development and stewardship with funders and collaborators were always integral to my work at Earth Day Canada.Introduced and developed Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) at the TDSB, TCDSB and the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Studies Laboratory School. What began as a few small experiments has grown through training programs for play provision in schools, daycares, after-school programs and recreation departments across Ontario.
