I am a first-generation Chicana/Mexicana born and raised in Denver, Colorado. My family roots trace back to Mexico City, which I consider the birthplace of my passion for art, activism, and community. I work in both Denver and Greeley, where I have cofounded several student and community groups, including The Rainbow Coalition of Greeley, Al Frente Youth Collective and Son Libres Book Club. These groups seek to reteach history, advocate for transformative education, and liberate our minds, body and souls from colonial trauma and oppression.I am a mixed media artist who has spent time drawing, creating murals, writing poetry, and curating art exhibitions like my own show, Brown Radical Imagination: Tocando Tierra y Nuestras Raíces - which to tells the stories and realities of Brown/Latinx communities living north of the imposed border. I recently graduated from The University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Chicana/o Latinx Studies with a concentration in Borders, Migration, and Globalization and a minor in Sociology, in hopes of continuing my work with minoritized youth and creating spaces in which people of color can thrive and heal.
