I love accounting, and I am pursuing my MS Accounting degree at The University of Texas at Dallas now. My expected graduation is May 2020, and I plan to sit for the CPA exam within the next two years. I majored in financial management that is similar to accounting in my undergraduate years, and my past experience helped me develop communication skills and problem-solving skills.In my sophomore year, I led a 5-member team to collect income and cost data from local farmers running ecological agriculture business to complete our cost-effectiveness analysis. At first, the response rate of our questionnaire was very low. Therefore, I decided to contact local village officials to seek help. After I explained our research purposes and the resistance we faced from the farmers, a local official promised to mediate on our behalf. Finally, the response rate from the farmers increased by approximately 30% due to my efforts me reaching out to the local officials. Despite initial resistance from farmers to complete our survey, I was able to utilize my communication skills by convincing a local official to help us out.In my senior year, I interned at the tax department of DuPont Research and Development Center.One day, when I made the data sheet, I found the total amount of tax was far below the normal range, but nothing special happened in that month. After checking all the functions applied and comparing the data in the SAP and exported data, I found a system-wide error. The data in the SAP was right, but the exported version always missed some parts of it. I reported this problem to the IT department. As it couldn’t be fixed in a short time, I decided to copy every piece of data from the SAP to complete my data sheet to avoid affecting my colleges who needed my sheet to continue their work.I am currently seeking a 2019 summer internship in tax.
