Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Current• Operated a variety of container handling equipment for the purposes of testing functions and diagnosing operators’ complaints, finding leaks and other operating issues• Completed scheduled preventative maintenance services including inspections, computer calibrations, fluid and filter changes on container handling equipment, gantry cranes, shunt trucks and forklifts• Diagnose, repair and serviced air conditioning systems on passenger vehicles, shunt trucks and large equipment, including hydraulically driven systems • Strong understanding of hydraulic and electric controlled hydraulic systems and there function; made a variety of hydraulics hoses ranging from -2 to -20, including suction and high pressure hoses• Mobile repair and on call service for safety system bypasses and machine failures while in operation, required to diagnose and repair equipment quickly to keep multiple railyards on schedule • Disassembled cranes and spreader attachments for yearly structural inspection and reassembled• Assisted in transport of assembled container handlers on the road from yard to yard; worked on a team to rig, dismantle, transport and reassemble container handlers, • Directed cable crane operators while pulling large cylinders, disassembling and reassembling cranes• Removed and replaced engines, transmissions, drive, steering axles, ring gears, rotation motors, radiators/combination coolers, hydraulic pumps, valve blocks/cylinders using mobile service truck mounted crane or forklift attachments• Repair and maintain all hydraulic forklift attachments; used for lifting and servicing the trains rail cars • Worked on high voltage systems powering overhead lights for gantry cranes and tower lights • Communicated on a daily basis with clientele by email and phone; disc• Replaced wheel bearings, kingpins, steering bushings and other suspension components • Responsible for rigging, lifting and flipping of damaged containers and dimensional loads
