    I was responsible for undertaking consulting projects in the area of bulk solids handling and belt conveying. Selected examples of projects are described below:• Redesign of large scale test rig.• Testing of supplied conveyor belt rubber compound to evaluate indentation rolling resistance. • Support for the design of a new system for transporting bulks solids.• Literature review to investigate feasibility of the proposed design.• Preparing 3D CAD models for simulations and 2D drawings for manufacturing.• Determination of power requirements for a drive system used on a large impact wear tester.• Collaboration with engineers and draftsmen to perform finite element analysis, discrete element model and modelling of large impact wear tester.• Collaboration with postgraduate student to test the effects of different profile idlers on indentation rolling resistance.• Investigation of sprayer configuration for optimisation on high pressure low volume of water to clean carryback on return of conveyor belt.• Modification of design to fabrication process, commissioned a safety procedure and tested the procedure to accurately measure the performance for each sprayer configuration.• Led a proposal to redesign a belt conveyor system to investigate belt surcharge angle from discharge of a transfer chute to the feeding point of the belt feeder.• Coordinated engineers and draftsman to model flow of material for central loading, blockage, wear and impact on the transfer chute and conveyor belt with discrete element model and continuum analysis.• Obtained multiple quotes on fabrication and installation for the redesigned belt conveyor system for cost analysis.• Supervised final year project students in completing design, fabrication and testing with a safe operating procedure and risk assessment identified.• Assisted postgraduate student in setup of experimental work and designed link for load cell.
