About Brendan Blanchard

I am a motivated software developer with an appetite for learning new tools and skills through work and projects. I currently work in Java and Typescript/Angular, but my deepest knowledge is in Python, and a lot of my current projects are in Rust. I have a large ecosystem of algorithmic trading software that I actively maintain in Python, and am actively working to convert it to Rust over time. I've been publishing the most generally useful building blocks of my work as I go, which can be found on crates.io.Prior to my interests in algorithmic trading, I finished my Master's at UNH conducting research into using Long Short-Term Memory Networks (LSTMs) to make statistically significant price predictions for stocks and cryptocurrencies. Even after graduating, I've continued to explore new data normalization techniques as well as writing a lot of asynchronous code to handle data collection and preprocessing.

    I serve a key role ensuring the success of data engineering projects, applying my skills in Python and other tools.I supported research at the Zugspitze-Schneefernerhaus environmental research station just below the summit of Zugspitze in the Alps. There, I used Python and D3js to create data analysis tools and a central database to support the automated plotting and reporting of the atmospheric data gathered from instruments at the station. The Zugspitze-Schneefernerhaus project involved approximately 10,000 lines of code. Additional information and full source code available at https://github.com/brendano257/Zugspitze-SchneefernerhausMy other achievements include the development of the DataSelector data visualization tool in D3js that assists with the manual inspection and filtering of data. The tool enables the selection of data points, viewing of configured metadata, and output of JSON files that are used to filter or edit data. Source code and example available at https://github.com/brendano257/DataSelectorI also developed BoulderAIRAnalysis, a highly-configurable tool that processes atmospheric data from over a dozen instruments along the Front Range of Colorado into a single database, and provides a framework for analysis, visualization, and data quality control. BoulderAIRAnalysis encompasses about 12,000 lines of code, including a test suite of the project's core functionality.

    Here, I was promoted from undergraduate research assistant to professional research assistant.I was responsible for data management and analysis in the Atmospheric Research Lab.
