In late 2023 I was appointed as CFO of Zero Automotive Pty Ltd, a client of Thrive Business Management. Zero Automotive has an uncompromising objective to build world’s safest and toughest electric underground light commercial vehicle using the Toyota Land Cruiser 79 Series. We are now entering the commercialisation phase of business operations to supply to underground mines throughout Australia and then internationally. We are in start-up phase, so hanging on for the ride!

In my time as CFO at Detmold Group I was responsible for treasury (debt and FX across 3 major banks locally and internationally), Company Secretary/Board attendance, minutes etc, insurance, legal, audit and tax for the global group as well as an advisory/as needs basis for the Detmold Medical (face mask manufacturing) and private interests. Detmold is a manufacturing company specialising in paper packaging products, notably FMCG bags, wraps and cups for global clients such as McDonalds, Hungry Jack's/Burger King, KFC, Starbucks and Uber Eats. It manufactures in 7 countries including Australia and has sales office representation in 17 countries yet still remains family owned and managed from Adelaide. I completed full-time employment with Detmold in April 2023 but will continue on in an advisory/part time CFO capacity, 2 days per week for at least the next 5-6 months.

During 2020 we achieved the sale of the 2 remaining business units of the Radio Rentals Group, being the rental book and associated in-house staff and facilities, and secondly the RT Edwards Commercial business in Qld. This was a successful result for the Radio Rentals shareholders and for the vast majority of staff, who enjoyed ongoing employment with the respective acquirors. It also brought to an end my employment with RR's, which was a tremendously challenging and rewarding stint of 15 years, surrounded by great people. I have since enjoyed something of a sabbatical through 2021 to date, to refresh and reset.
