My journey began as a General Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Assistant at UC Santa Barbara, where I taught labs, delivered pre-lab lectures, and supported students through office hours and exam proctoring.As a student teacher, I took full responsibility for teaching high school chemistry at Santa Barbara Senior High School and integrated Science 8 at La Colina Junior High School. These roles involved creating and implementing engaging lessons, managing classrooms, assessing student performance, and collaborating with experienced teachers to support student learning. I also advised and supported first-generation and diverse students in AVID 9 and English 9 Ethnic Studies classes.Beyond teaching, I actively participated in professional service and community outreach. I served as a member of the Future Teachers of Color Coalition and the Student Advisory Council at UC Santa Barbara, advocating for improvements in teacher education programs and fostering culturally responsive dialogues. My academic training includes trauma-informed practices, enhancing my ability to support students' emotional and psychological well-being. I have attended conferences such as the Knowles Summer Conference and the California Science Education Conference, engaging with fellow educators to develop teaching expertise and leadership.With a Master's in Education from UC Santa Barbara, I am dedicated to fostering a love for science and learning in my students, promoting diversity and inclusion in education, and continuously improving my teaching practices.
