In this role, I lead the Elastomer Identification and Tagging Project for a prominent pharmaceutical manufacturing client. My responsibilities include overseeing the overhaul of a preventative maintenance program for WFI systems. I conduct field verifications of elastomers, tagging them for easy identification, and collaborate with engineering support on WFI system P&ID redlining. I also revise forms, including the elastomer replacement checklist. Additionally, I work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones, manage resources, and ensure deliverables align with project timelines. Operating within a GMP environment, I utilize compliance tools like BMRAM and EDMS to develop the project within a quality system framework.

I presently work as a business grant consultant for various different clients across Ontario to support them in writing applications for government grants, funding, and tax incentives. I have had exposure to collaborating with a wide variety of clients from private sector companies, as well as with government representatives, to provide a comprehensive service and ensure all funding opportunities are explored for clients. I work with my clients to understand their business needs, project goals, and operational capacity through online and virtual meetings and researching their market in order to provide strategic feedback and funding program recommendations. While I research, draft, and edit the funding program application I maintain communication with all stakeholders and perform my own diligence to ensure all information is captured in the application. When I complete work for clients, I solicit feedback on my services to ensure continued improvement and to allow the client the opportunity to have their voice heard. Some of these programs that I have worked on to obtain funding for my clients includes The Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) tax incentives, Eastern Ontario Development Fund (EODF), and NCFDC thriveFORWARD to name a few.

In this role, I worked for a pharmaceutical manufacturing client as the lead in developing a complete operational strategy and plan for a Water for Injection (WFI) system. When I first started in that role, the system was in the project phase and had not yet turned over to be operational. I was responsible for researching and understanding the system entirely so that I could establish the plan to ensure the transition from the project team to the facilities team. Within the scope of that plan, I needed to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) through the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) that I had developed using Microsoft Word. The system became operational, and I was responsible for monitoring parameters on the equipment to ensure compliance with regulations established by regulating bodies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In this role, I provided hands-on support in equipment and facility maintenance practices to the Biotherapeutics Manufacturing Centre (BMC). This is a Contract Research, Development and Manufacturing Organization that is based at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. I adhered to GMP guidelines and established internal procedures. I scheduled equipment and facility maintenance and participates in sourcing and on boarding of new equipment in a reliable and compliant manner. I planned and executed daily operations, work in a multi-disciplinary team, operate with a high attention to detail, and manage several tasks at once.

In this role, I was a part of the production of a radiopharmaceutical drug product called Fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) used in PET scans for cancer detection. This is a GMP environment requiring proper documentation of procedures and adherence to regulatory bodies such as Health Canada and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission. I performed tasks related to drug production in clean rooms requiring proper gowning and aseptic techniques. This involved the line clearance of the previous day’s batch and the staging of materials and equipment for the next production run. I aseptically managed material inventory in the clean room and the weekly and monthly clean of these rooms. The operation of the cyclotron particle accelerator is a critical aspect of the role, which involves preforming daily inspections of gasses cylinders, water flow, water temperature, humidity, and electronics. I preformed the initialization, loading of the target and starting the cyclotron beam to create activity.

In this role, I was responsible for day-to-day operations of collection and processing of bovine semen product using a variety of technical laboratory equipment. This operational process begins by conducting routine microscopic motility, volume and photometric evaluation of semen. This is followed by labeling, dilution, fill-sealing, racking, freezing, and storing of semen product. All aspects of laboratory processes are meticulously documented using MS Dynamics AX and all SOPs are followed accordingly. Equipment is maintained daily and calibrations are recorded. Depending on resources and scheduling, I rotated through each of these functions, and acquired the competence to complete all tasks. In this role, time management is fundamental due to the nature of the biological product and the inter-dependencies of each process. The environment is a very fast pace, given that there are tight deadlines between semen collection and product delivery to the distributors. I participated in production experiments by collecting and analyzing data.

In production I operate the filtration system of the brewery ensuring the removal of bacteria, yeast, and other debris from the beer. As a laboratory technician I preform quality control on our products as well as test the breweries equipment for sterility and proper cleaning.

As a CSEP student for the ASET laboratories at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology I am responsible for maintaining lab supplies and materials, cleaning of lab benches, fume hoods, and lab equipment. I organize lab materials, prepare laboratory solutions, and a number of culture medias for use in student laboratory courses. Independent working skills in laboratory setting as well as the knowledge of WHIMIS, MSDS, SOPs, and lab safety training.
