I am also a member of the Senior Management Team of Ramblers GB.In my time at the Ramblers Scotland I have:Ensured stability for the organisation during the transition to my leadership, despite half the staff facing uncertainty about the funding of their posts.Raised the profile of Ramblers Scotland through major broadcast interviews, video making & social media activity - often having to deftly judge my tone and approach on potentially contentious issues.Rapidly developed a strong relationship with other Ramblers GB Senior Management Team members & the Convenor of Ramblers Scotland; enabling me to secure resources, deliver policy changes and adjust our strategic direction. Helped shifted campaign strategy to include a focus on paths because of evidence non-members found this engaging & that it will help get people walking.Ensured government funding for a walk leader training scheme despite significant obstacles. Made sure the scheme was a model of cross-nation collaboration & that it was formally recognised as a GB-wide pilot based in Scotland. Led senior staff & the board through an evidence-based decision process to refuse £250,000 for a walking festival because costs would have outweighed benefits. Show less

I directly manage the DEC's media relations, public affairs, celebrity liaison, events and publications. I also have overall responsibility for our website and social media presence. My work helps ensure we maximise income for each appeal, build trust with donors and collaborate effectively with our 13 member agencies as well as partners such as the BBC and ITN.
