Responsible for financial control, financial and non-financial risk management, as well as IT operations and development.As financial crisis deepened Irish Government (NTMA managed) debt rose to c.€200bn, with a derivative book of c.€40bn. Responsible for related market, credit and liquidity risk management. Responsible for valuation of Government’s equity holdings in Irish banks.

Responsible for ESB Group's Treasury related risks. These were primarily FX, interest rate, liquidity, debt, counterparty and operational risks.Negotiated several financings with total value of more than €1bn. Separately, responsible for the risk exposures arising from the Group's commodity (power, coal, gas, Co2) positions.President of The Irish Association of Corporate Treasurers (2010). In a parallel role I initiated ESB’s Electric Vehicle (EV) strategy.

Responsible for the management of gross margin for power, coal, oil, gas (and Co2 as the market developed) for ESB's Power Generation business.Interaction with the Electricity Regulator (CER) on all regulatory matters related to the business, including the development of a de-regulated power market (later named the SEM).Chaired Power Generation's asset strategy development committee
