I want to work hard at work worth doing. For me that’s using tech and data to solve real-world problems that matter.I started my career as a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Queensland. During my research career I investigated the neural processes underlying sensory perception, decision-making and confidence, and motor control. Since leaving academia I have worked in data and AI across industries, and now with the ABC! Outside the office you will find me hiking, at a gymnastics or dance class, playing with a dog, or on/by the water.I know the transition out of both academia and consulting can be difficult, but I am an open book so reach out if you would like to chat.

ConsultantDeloitte Sep 2021 - Jan 2023Brisbane, Queensland, AustraliaI worked as a Data & AI consultant with Deloitte. I worked with clients to identify and address their data issues, and expand their data capabilities. This included implementing robust data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures; uplifting organisational data fluency; data modelling and exploration; data analysis and visualisation; data interpretation and reporting. I like that this role allowed me to work hands-on with data and work closely with clients to help them understand their data. This role gave me experience with a broad range of industries and organisations, workflows, and technologies. -
Postdoctoral Research FellowThe University Of Queensland Oct 2018 - Sep 2021Brisbane, AustraliaIn this role I conducted novel human experiments to investigate how our motor actions are influenced by recent sensory and movement history, and the outcomes associated with our movements. This research contributes to our understanding of not only what prompts us to move, but how we plan and execute these movements. My research involves electrophysiological measurements (EMG and EEG), motion-capture, behavioural tasks, use of a robotic manipulandum, force-plate measurements, immersive 3D visual stimuli, and more. I work in a large, collaborative team, ranging in experience from students and volunteers to Professors. We harness the varied skills of this multidisciplinary team to produce consistently high-impact and rigorous scientific publications. One of the main components of my role is to develop the custom hardware and software required to run cutting-edge research, and the bespoke analytic tools to analyse the data. I also contribute to supervising students, designing and running experiments, analysing and interpreting the data, and writing publishable reports. -
