About Brendan Hitchens

My greatest passions are education, sport and community engagement, or as the Olympic Movement’s spirit of Olympism states - the point at which sport, culture and education converge to build a better world. My work experience is long and varied, ranging from sport, and the media and music industries, to teaching, but what unites all my roles over the years is connecting with and empowering others, storytelling and critical and creative thinking. I am an accomplished educator with extensive experience working with young people through teaching, curriculum design and community engagement. I have strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills, that draw on my experience in the music industry as a journalist and radio broadcaster. I am a lifelong football fan and I am passionate about my work in the AFL industry because I see first-hand the impact sport can have on people; be it entertainment, engagement, education or empowerment.I value my values and am driven to do things differently to make a difference.
