About Brendan Jan Walsh
Half a life I devoted to the secrets of the cello. The other half I used to learn languages, to compose, conduct, connect and consult. Not only through music by the way: after my music studies, I was admitted to a renowned (and the world's oldest) business school for an extensive Master in Management. I learned the tricks of trade by working in banking, luxury and aviation. But also for the EU and in the media. Since then, as an artistic entrepreneur, I have been connecting the worlds of art and culture, education, media, companies, governments and social initiatives. I believe that the world can always be made more beautiful, step by step, together.

Artistic Director And Co-Founder
CurrentA Classical Music Rave is exactly what it says it is...All elements of a great party including whopping sound & light in a stunning venue with the added spice of classical music deejays, live musicians and surprise acts. Of course, an audience of young, enthusiastic and sometimes even fanatic music lovers makes the night complete. The average age of our guests is somewhere around 28 years old. Our oldest fan is over 60 and he stays later than most!As director I'm in charge of the long-term strategy and artistic concept development whilst overseeing the project-based elements from the artistic planning to fundraising, marketing, communications, PR, sales, production and HR.The Classical Music Rave Collective, consisting of participating artists, is a collective of performers, artists and concept developers who break the barrier between stage and spectators. They surprise the audience and each other with music, spoken word, dance, theatre, circus, visuals, cartooning, aroma, flavour and sensation. The Classical Music Rave also works in co-production with other events such as Beyond Festival (NL), Festival Musica Estranha (BR) and Tallinn Music Week (EE).

I'm also a pretty decent MC (or presenter if you prefer). At least, I guess that's why I've been invited to host talks at Holland Festival, Cross-linx Festival, Classical:Next, European Choral Association, and many more.
Curator Classical Music
CurrentEvery art form needs an underground. The same goes for classical music. It makes me proud and happy to be the founder and curator of Ruigoord Klassiek, a monthly concert series where we explore the reach and range of classical music. A Sunday afternoon where classical music merges with other musical genres and other art forms. A meeting space and time for artists and audiences from completely different backgrounds. And sometimes just an opportunity to enjoy classical music in all its power and purity. Ruigoord is a creative village surrounded by an industrial harbour atmosphere just outside Amsterdam. In 1973, the abandoned village was squatted by a group of artists from Amsterdam and has since become a small but flourishing community. It has been the source of many major Dutch creative movements and continues to play a central role in Amsterdam’s underground art scene. PS: Not that it matters much, but I also enjoy designing the e-flyers for each of these concerts as well as being the presenter of each concert.
