Mr. Schulman launched and leads the public policy & government relations function at Boston Dynamics, the world's leading developer of advanced robotics. In this role, he collaborates with policymakers and stakeholders on a wide range of policy and ethics issues relating to the integration of beneficial robots into society.

Brendan Schulman served as Vice President of Policy and Legal Affairs at DJI, the world's leading civilian drone manufacturer. Brendan was responsible for setting and representing DJI's global strategy relating to public policy, and advocating for reasonable and balanced regulatory outcomes for drone operators at the federal and state level, and internationally. Brendan managed DJI's public policy professionals in Europe, Asia, and North America. Previously, he was head of the Unmanned Aircraft Systems practice at the law firm of Kramer Levin in New York City, where he handled some of the landmark cases and regulatory proposals in the field. In his career, Brendan has represented various Fortune 500 companies, tech startups, robotics companies, investment firms, and educational institutions in their development and use of drones. Brendan served on three FAA UAS Aviation Rulemaking Committees and was an original member of the FAA's Drone Advisory Committee, which he served on for four years. Frequently quoted in the media on policy issues surrounding civilian drones, and a regular public speaker on these topics, he has been building and flying his own civilian drones for over 25 years.

Mr. Schulman headed the firm’s Unmanned Aircraft Systems (civilian drones) practice, the first of its kind in the country.Mr. Schulman defended the landmark case of Huerta v. Pirker, involving the operation of a commercial drone in the United States. He has two decades of hands-on experience with unmanned aircraft technology. His litigation practice also included complex contracts, regulatory challenges, data breach, and fiduciary duty claims, with an emphasis on law-and-technology subjects.Mr. Schulman lectures, writes, and is often quoted in the press on UAS law and other law-and-technology topics. He is a member of the ABA Forum Committee on Air & Space Law and the Sedona Conference Working Group on Electronic Document Retention & Production.As E-Discovery Counsel, Mr. Schulman advised clients on the impact of technology in litigation matters, with an emphasis on technology-assisted review and other cost-effective and defensible strategies.
