I worked in the Volunteering team at Voluntary Action Leeds on two projects – Giving Time which is all about supporting ex-offenders into volunteering and also on ESV Leeds which is VAL’s Employer Supported Volunteering (ESV) project. This involved taking part in site visits of the venues for the events, exploring innovative approaches to the Assembly, organising and participating in planning meetings, working on the costings of the events and exploring securing sponsorship from industry.I also compiled, co-ordinated and drafted briefings for the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources, liaising with colleagues across various Government Departments and attended meetings with the Minister including with a visit from an European Parliament Delegation. I was required to draft and edit letters, parliamentary questions and other such correspondence for the Commissioner. As the meetings and letters could quite often be dealing with sensitive EU policy issues, every detail had to be scrutinised in order to ensure both quality and accuracy. I also provided statistical analysis of the Unit’s briefings and was entrusted with the task of providing statistical data on the number of briefing requests for the last five years. Show less
