Brenda Villa is a top water polo player who has represented Team USA in four Olympics. She fulfilled a life-long dream when she led her team to victory and won USA women’s water polo's first Olympic gold medal in the 2012 London Olympics. Brenda is passionate about the sport of water polo and ensuring that youth from all backgrounds have access to aquatics programming and water polo.After a decorated career in water polo as a member of the USA National Team, Stanford University Women's Water polo (NCAA Champions 2002) and Orizzonte Italian Club Team, Brenda retired from water polo in 2012. Brenda is now pursuing her dream to give back to a sport that has given her so much. Brenda is using her bilingual skills and profile to promote water polo and encourage youth, especially girls, to participate in sports. In 2011, she co-founded Project 2020, a non-profit that is dedicated to providing youth in the San Francisco mid-peninsula with free to low-cost access to swimming pools and aquatic sports. Brenda is currently Head of Aquatics Outreach for Menlo Swim and Sports and is conducting outreach to low-income youth from the surrounding communities by working with local non-profits and schools.
