The mission of the Office of Urban Agriculture (OUA) is to enhance food production in the District, fostering a sustainable, equitable, and resilient food system. In this role, I played a pivotal role in realizing this vision through the following contributions:Urban Agriculture Award Program: Successfully managed the Urban Agriculture Award program, channeling funds to urban farms to support infrastructure and operations. This grant program aimed to increase urban agriculture initiatives and cultivate a thriving local food ecosystem.Equity-Centric Grant Management: Advocated for inclusivity and equity by developing strategies to ensure that our grants and programs prioritized food-insecure communities and uplifted socially disadvantaged farmers, to foster a more equitable agricultural landscape.In my role, I was committed to steering OUA towards not only enhancing the sustainability of urban farms but also championing initiatives that addressed broader social and economic disparities in the local food system.

A New Deal for Youth is a youth-led, youth-centered effort advocating for the creation of new systems, policies, investments, and structures that reimagine life for young people in America. I supported the development of the demands under each of the six issues.

The Green Fellows Leadership and Development Program is DOEE's competitive fellowship designed for graduate-level students who are currently enrolled in a Master's degree study program in the fields of energy and environment. During my tenure, I was able to support different projects and strategies including: Sustainable DC (SDC) Plan: Created content for SDC’s monthly newsletters, social media platforms, and bi-weekly volunteer email to increase awareness of the plan. Green Zone Environmental Program (GZEP): Developed an interactive virtual curriculum for 50 GZEP participants, youth ages 14 to 24, to learn about DOEE's Urban Sustainability Administration's (USA) plans and programs. Community Healing and Action Circles (CHACs): Supported USA write a grant in collaboration with Movement Matters and received $10,000 from the Urban Sustainability Directors Network to support immigrant communities in DC. Equity: Analyzed 350 surveys collected by Empower DC from Ward 8 residents experiences to inform DOEE’s Equity Assessment Tool

Coordinated City Blossoms's Youth Entrepreneurship and Cooperative, Mighty Greens. Trained youth at Eastern and Cardozo High Schools on food cooperatives, entrepreneurship, and garden maintenance

MLOV's youth program consist of 25 immigrant youth who are learning how to be community leaders by doing research, developing campaigns, and push for more equitable policies. - Organized 20 immigrant youth to lead a participatory research campaign on food justice in the DC Public school system.- Support youth to create strategic plans, collect and present data, analyze policies, and build partnerships.- Secured $20,000 to implement a one-week institute to train immigrant youth.- Interact with youth, co-workers, community partners, funders, government agencies, and the general DC public.

Many Languages One Voice works to empower Limited and Non-English Proficient communities to equitably access public benefits in Washington, DC.- Managed the organization’s $300,000 budget and distributed to 4 different campaign programs- Supervised employee work performance, delegate and review work, support employees to complete work assignments. - Coordinated a 6-week summer program for 25 immigrant youth to learn leadership skills, and collborated with the Zero Hour Youth Climate March

RISERS is a short film that portrays young undocumented immigrants who have contributed to make a positive impact in their communities. Throughout the film, the lead roles give a presentation about the challenges of being undocumented, how to overcome them, share their stories, and work to push for an immigration reform. Presented the film at places like CentroNia, Latin American youth Center, Many Languages One Voice,SpeLLigent, American University, Notre Dame University - DC Campus, The University of the District of Columbia, and Harvard University's School of Law.

Selected for the DC Water Summer Internship Program for the second consecutive year, I was placed in the Clean Rivers Project—a groundbreaking $2.6 billion initiative designed to address combined sewer overflows into the Anacostia River through the construction of four tunnels.

Selected to DC Water's competitive Summer Internship Program and placed to work on wastewater infrastructure and maintenance. Water distributes drinking water and collects and treats wastewater for more than 672,000 residents and 17.8 million annual visitors in the District of Columbia.

As a dedicated Student Research Assistant for CAUSES, I actively contributed to research initiatives and community engagement:Research: Conducted in-depth research on the benefits of stormwater retention systems and green infrastructure on CAUSES-led farms. Community Engagement Leadership: Coordinated a team of 50 volunteers for the East Capitol Urban Farm. Successfully managed events and disseminated information to enhance volunteer retention and attract new participants.

As the Student Multi-ethnic Action Research Team (SMART) Lead Student Organizer, I led impactful student-led initiatives and campaigns, including:2013 Summer Institute for Student Organizers: Organized and facilitated multilingual leadership meetings for 30 immigrant and multilingual high school students from various DCPS high schools, fostering collaboration and empowerment.Legislative Advocacy: Played a key role in the leadership team that conceptualized the Language Access for Education Amendment 2015. If passed, this law would enhance graduation rates for ELL students and hold Local Education Agencies accountable for providing quality education.Campaign Advocacy: Presented S.M.A.R.T's 2014-2015 campaign on English Language Learner student graduation rates at various events, including forums, schools, and community councils, raising awareness and fostering support.
