After operating my own business for 8 years I was approached in early 2008 to join with Brad Read of Brad Read Design on the Sunshine Coast to form a new building design company we call BRD Group. A full description of the company can be found at; www.brdg.com.au

Building Designers Association of Australia (BDAA) is a national association representing Building Designers throughout Australia. BDAA is an inclusive association which is constantly developing and evolving, offering members multiple streams of CPD and communications, as well as an atmosphere which fosters interaction, member-to-member support, mentoring and industry exposure.Membership includes national and international design award winners, authors, magazine columnists, sustainability authorities and experts, design software developers, lecturers and presenters. A number of members have also featured on popular television lifestyle and design programs.Building Designers Association of Australia represent its members across both State and Federal Planning, as well as in Industry Policy.My role as National Advocacy Chairperson is to lead all State & Territory committee members in responding to issues effecting the Building Design Profession at a local, State and Federal level. The BDAA has representation in all States & Territories across Australia and committee members report back to the Advocacy Team regularly. I also assist the Building Designers Accreditation & Training Committee with Advocacy & Licensing issues in QLD and assist with submissions on any topics that may arise within QLD or Australia that would benefit from input from the Building Design profession. The role also involves the promotion where possible of the Building Design Profession in QLD for the benefit of all designers.

The Building Design Queensland is a not-for-profit industry association focused on building design professionals. Chairperson role is to lead sub-committee in identifying policy, political and professional issues that impact the Association, its members and Building Designers in general and, in consultation with key stakeholders, preparing policy statements, submissions and lobbying government representatives to support the Profession of Building Design in Queensland and Australia. The Advocacy Sub-Committee are responsible for keeping members informed of sector issues and the advocacy work being undertaken on their behalf. Key to the chairperson role is the understanding and interpretation of legislation and having the experience in researching, developing and communicating policy positions.

After working for a number of architects over an 8 year period I elected for a change in direction by becoming self employed as a Building Designer, and offered my services through my own business, Creed Design. As a business owner my position included all the duties associated with operating a small business. My project involvement included the development of feasibility studies, preparation of documentation suitable for building approval and construction.

I worked in the London office of Michael Sparks Associates from February 1999 through to June 2000. Upon returning to Australia I then worked in a contracting capacity for a further 8 years. Project involvement included; development of feasibility studies, preparation of documentation for planning purposes, design and development of construction documentation, design and development of client website and intranet.

Having just moved from Australia to London the "Rogers Partnership" in North London was the first architectural company outside of Australia that I had worked for. Throughout my 6 month stay I was involved on a number of public transport projects including the Cardiff Central Train Station upgrade, Turnpike Lane Bus Station refurbishment, North London and also some minor work to a number of London Underground Stations. My role on each of the projects was to to support the project architects with the documentation and assist on-site when necessary.

I began my career in the design industry at Down & Neylan Architects. My role originally started out as a design assistant and over time I moved into a Design Technician role where I was responsible for the documentation of projects through the building approval and construction phases.
