As a freelance staff writer at SVK Multimedia and Publishing, I primarily wrote web content for the company's publications, as well as a few feature pieces for the print magazines. My regular duties consisted of communicating and holding interviews with feature sources, researching story subjects, writing full length feature pieces, and submitting assignments in a timely manner. After freelance writing for the company for about two years, I was hired as a full-time writer in March of 2021.

As an intern at Caffeinated Press, I read and sifted through manuscripts, and identified strength and weaknesses of the pieces. I practiced articulating my opinion on whether I would accept or deny a manuscript for publication, and giving the reasons why. I also line edited a couple novel-length stories, and a poetry book. I occasionally researched events for staff members to attend and sell books at, as well as organizing that research to present.

GVSU Pals is a student-run organization at Grand Valley State University that connects college students to youth in the Grand Rapids area, whose parents recommended them for the program. Through being a part of this organization, I had the opportunity to mentor a 13 year old girl.
