Global Ocean Health organizes the scientific, policy, and communications support they need to stand up for the sea that feeds an estimated 3 billion people. We help fishermen, seafood growers, and the businesses and communities that depend on them learn to document, survive, and combat the effects of OA on marine resources. We pilot new methods to detect and reduce harm. We work with partners at every level to build resilience in fisheries and marine waters. And we help build and refine the tools that are needed to reduce the immense waste streams of modern civilization that are turning the seas “hot, sour and breathless.”

I served on the Advisory Board of Retrolux, a cloud-based software company that is transforming how lighting retrofit contractors, ESCOs, lighting project owners, manufacturers, and vendors, work together as a team in a single ecosystem.

Served as a key member of the executive team that grew PCC from $280 million to $480 million in five years, while maintaining alignment with co-op’s mission of cultivating local, organic foodsystems. Guided actions that optimized end-to-end communications, including sustainability, community relations, and advocacy/governmental affairs. Responsible for P&L for co-op’scooking school with $500K+ sales.Inaugurated the organization’s first social and environmental responsibility strategy, partnering with stakeholders, resulting in establishing the organization as a leader in environmental responsibility. Directed PCC’s sustainability efforts, which included reducing impact related to climate change, with emphasis on green building and adequate waste, water, and resource conservation. Achieved net carbon-positive store operations, 100% renewable energy, andLiving Building Challenge Petal Certification.Guided PCC’s social responsibility efforts, including community outreach and giving. Designed strategy to build brand trust and leverage impact. Developed BIPOC incubator program inpartnership with a local nonprofit and organized $1 million gift to Washington Farmland Trust.Oversaw PCC’s product sustainability standards activity, to ensure that products on the shelf were good for people and the planet.Led the diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy, which included integrating DEI into the culture, community, and purchasing.Directed governmental affairs activities that resulted in strong relationships with legislators, NGOs, and industry groups. Built a comprehensive state and national governmental affairs strategy with the aim of gaining strong support for mission-driven policy imperatives.Oversaw PCC’s internal and external communications. Championed the globally award-winning sustainability initiative of this U.S. health system with $1 billion in revenue. Positioned VMHS as the #1 health care system in the U.S. in sustainability in less than three years.Conceptualized the organization’s visionary and innovative strategic plan that enabled it to achieve best-in-class performance in supply chain, energy, water, climate, and waste sustainability programs.United with the White House and Health Care Without Harm on national and global climate change policy efforts. Attended the White House Climate Resilience Summit, conducted beta-testing of a national climate toolkit, and presented at the White House Health and Climate Summit and COP 21.Realized cost savings of more than $2.5 million annually via sustainability initiatives, including supply chain, resource conservation management, climate leadership, and waste reduction. Reduced risk to the business as a result of efforts.Evangelized a variety of sustainability efforts, including phone recycling. Supervised an environmental reporting effort that received the Spirit of Excellence award for achieving $250,000 in savings from process improvement.

Consulted to global and national Fortune 500 clients with a focus on sustainability; this entailed the development of a robust environmental management system that conformed with ISO 14001 and ISO 18001.Led the internal sustainability and EHS training efforts of a well-respected environmental consulting company with over 40 offices across the US.Responsible for organization's sustainability reporting, including developing a sustainability report for the World Council on Sustainable Business.Founded and chaired national virtual sustainability Green Team, which led to improvements in sustainability performance in 40 offices across the United States.Played key role within a team that developed the first ISO 14001/18001 environmental management system in the world.
