I have 15 years of experience working as a GIS specialist, and Geospatial data engineer. I recently joined Geospatial Intelligence , a dynamic team that combines over 20 years’ of experience in telematics and spatial data analysis to provide insights and products that have an impact across sectors including, logistics, retail, insurance, telcos, health conservation, mining and more…Prior to joining GeoInt I gained 10 years experience at the Peace Parks foundation applying spatial and data engineering skills, and tracking and IoT technologies to solving conservation challenges.I have significant experience in managing an ArcGIS Enterprise system, and related geospatial databases. I have developed skills across the entire data value chain – from spatial data acquisition to storage, database administration, analysis, reporting, web mapping and integration with other business analytics solutions like Grafana.I have extensive experience in building and managing large databases and geospatial databases. My database skills include Microsoft SQL Server, PHP, Postgresql, Mysql, SQL, and InfluxD, I am also able to program in Python, node-read, PHP and javascript. I have also experience in managing web services in the cloud (Microsoft Azure), I was able to save PPF R1.5million in annual cloud services fees in 2023 by optimising the existing use of cloud services and shutting down services that were no longer being used.I also enjoy analysing geospatial data, I have used both commercial and open-source GIS packages- such as ArcGIS Enterprise and Quantum GIS.I supported PPFs combatting wildlife crime unit by taking over some of the responsibilities for technology upgrades and maintenance in the parks. I have provided support to the parks to successfully implement LoraWAN networks and associated tracking technology. I also maintained the smart connect conservation system and Earth ranger systems at PPF which are crucial to collecting the data that the monitoring and evaluation teams rely on.
