I love this opportunity to further support students become career-ready and utilize my Career Development Practitioner skills in a classroom setting. In this return to my previous role at SLC, I support the career progression of students, from first entering college through to launching into the workforce. Assisting with preparing resumes and personal branding tools and navigating the local labour market are my daily tasks. There is no greater fulfilment than assisting those coming up behind me with finding their place in the world.

As a member of the Marketing & Recruitment team, I supported prospective students with accessing education, training, and vocational programs at St. Lawrence College’s three SE Ontario campuses: Kingston, Cornwall, Brockville. SLC's Recruitment team provides program advising, admissions and application support to direct entry applicants, mature learners, newcomers, and international students through in-person, on-campus and virtual initiatives.

Based at the Brockville Campus, I worked with a dynamic, tri-campus team to connect job seekers with training opportunities that support them with entering the SE Ontario Healthcare sector. This "SAO" also provided healthcare employers access to training for workforce development of current employees. Recruiting, marketing, community outreach, project coordination and logistics, and celebrating successes were key responsibilities of this role.

This exciting role allowed me the privilege to support St. Lawrence College students with their career development needs. Working alongside a dynamic team of professionals, I assisted students identify their career goals then provided appropriate direction, connections, and supports for them to move forward in their journey. Connecting with SLC Faculty and delivering career workshops in the classrooms further supported students with bridging their learning with work.

As a recruiter for a small, private international school in SE Ontario I had the privilege of working with education agents, families, and prospective students from around the globe. International travel to key markets was among my responsibilities, coupled with maintaining communications from home ground through digital, email, video and messenger software tools. My key recruitment markets included Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Mexico. Additionally, I supported marketing and outreach initiatives locally including producing communications materials, hosting tours, presenting to groups and participating in events. Due to COVID-19 my position ended in April 2020.

This position was my debut to working directly in the employment and career services sector. My greatest accomplishment in this role was improving the economic status of job seekers in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland region by connecting them to funded training opportunities and employment.Adults, youth, and newcomers represented our key outreach markets through building authentic, supportive relationships with both individuals and community service agencies. Providing career coaching and job search support ‘post-training’ further assisted participants with attaching to the labour market.

During this period of self-employment as an outsourcing specialist, I provided operational, communications, and sales and marketing support for several companies in multiple sectors: consumer goods, tourism, education, consulting, and real estate. This period included a 3-year contract of inventory and operations support for the national sales manager of a global audio electronics company, Sennheiser, as well as extensive marketing support in tourism human resources services.
