I teach at a K-8 school. During these years, I began my career as a 6th grade teacher. Then, I had the meaningful opportunity to loop for 3 years with the same group of students, teaching 6, 7, and 8th grade. After that particular group of students graduated, I taught 8th grade again. I worked with developmentally disabled adults in their homes and in the community. I assisted them with life skills. I also took on the position as a live-in companion/care giver with a developmentally disabled man. During this time I also under took the responsibilities of a full-time education graduate program and student taught simultaneously.

I worked for Big Basin Redwoods State Park at their head-quarter's office where I was responsible for taking backpacking reservations, providing trail information and directions to tourists, and leading small interpretive walks around the Redwood Grove. In addition, I was responsible for opening and closing the head-quarter's office and communicating with park rangers. Lastly, minor chopping and staking of wood, weather measurements, and cleaning chores were also part of my position

I first started at the conservancy as an intern and then was offered a full-time job after my intern hours were completed.This job required me to obtain my Basic 32 in Wildfire Fighting and to operate and maintain chainsaws. I obtained a B class certificate in arbor work. I also ran and managed prescribed burns with other members of my crew. In addition, I worked on a crew responsible for urban restoration, erosion control, fire prevention, water quality control, eradication of invasive species, and restoration/preservation of natural species within the Tahoe Basin.During this position I was also fortunate to travel to Colorado to get extensive hands on work with trail maintenance and construction. While a member of the NCC I was certified to run and operate chainsaws, teach and instruct the operation of chainsaw use and safety, and handling weekly crew shopping needs for nutritional purposes. This position allowed me to travel all over Nevada and parts of California in remote locations.
