Profile bio

About Brenna Marie Mora Rodriguez

I have a Masters in Education and expertise serving under-privileged, immigrant communities in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently, I teach in a dual-immersion program. Our program supports English and Vietnamese speakers. I take pride in being part of a program that believes in the value of being bi-literate. The foundation of my practice and graduate work began at UCSC, which focused on thematic teaching, community building, social justice, the theory of caring, and the inquiry approach to learning. I believe that I have cultivated a practice of teaching that develops the whole child. I spend time teaching my students about wellness and nutrition, traditional and engaging academics, communication and conflict resolution, and the arts. I am committed to SEL practices in order to support each person and academic rigor. I take deep consideration into my curriculum planning. I also love collaboration. I am trained in a variety of methodologies from the Lucy Calkin’s workshop model, Guided Reading, Sonday Foundational Literacy, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Leader in Me, Thinking Maps, and Kate Kinsella’s ELD best practices. I am a well-rounded educator. My passion for instruction is literacy, specifically writing. I have served as the editor in chief for a Bay Area teacher’s union newsletter for many years. I am also a published author from my own personal blog to my self-published book. I have incredibly strong writing and editorial skills. In addition, I am an eloquent speaker, who is comfortable speaking to large groups of people. So how does all of this relate to my other passions of teaching yoga and being a personal nutrition and fitness coach? As a yoga teacher and coach, I also want my students and clients to develop beyond themselves, and to reach their fullest potential. I believe strongly that a strong mind, body, and spirit contributes to greater happiness. My goal as a yoga teacher, and fitness coach, is to give my clients all the skills they need to continue living with sound health practices without me. I want to empower people to be confident in their body and love eating food to nourish their lives. I really enjoy the power of teaching and coaching. I love to inspire. I love to watch people grow and change. I am an agent for transformation.

Listed skills include Teaching, Curriculum Design, Public Speaking, Classroom, and 11 others.
