Automation Engineering Technician - Internship
During this internship I got the opportunity to work closely with the automation that I had worked with as an operator and material handler. It was my duty to perform monthly preventative maintenance, contact vendors to order replacement parts once they wore out, fill out purchase requisitions and submit them to purchasing to have these parts ordered, fill out Engineering Change Orders (IQMS; ERP System) that documented the changes and repairs that I did to equipment, work with the engineering team (Mechanical, Quality, and Process) to ensure that the work I was doing on the automation in the cleanroom complied with all relevant standards and protocols, also worked with the production team (Team Leaders, Quality Technicians, and Operators) to discover issues and offer solutions to issues that we faced on the production floor. It was also my duty to be on-call whenever the automation was running (typically 24 hours, 5 day per week) in order to troubleshoot automation issues. I studied at CVTC under the Workforce Advancement Training Grant and learned about AC/DC circuits, AC/DC motor control, Allen-Bradley PLCs, ladder logic, and pneumatics.Skills:- Developed a deeper sense of professionalism working with engineers and contacting vendors- Learned about the procedures to implementing changes to current manufacturing processes- Troubleshoot and fix automation-related issues- Learned about PLCs and ladder logic; CVTC WAT Grant

I learned to appreciate a long and tiring day of work and in-turn developed a great respect for working.Skills:- Continued to develop my work ethic- Developed a basic understanding of how lawn mowers and larger farm equipment work- Learned about the processes of a dairy operation- Physically labor-intensive
General Laborer
My duration here was spent building and maintaining our house that my family and I built. During this time I used mathematical theorems, like Pythagorean's Theorem, for many structure-related problems. I also had a large part in many wiring projects, for example, wiring all switches and outlets through-out the house. I also was a part of the purchasing process of the materials used for building and using linear equations to find the amount of material needed with a set amount of money given. This project was physically-taxing. There weren't many things that we hired out, it was mainly me(16), my sister(13), my mom, and her boyfriend that built our house from the bottom up.Skills:- Manage working long periods of time (~12 hours a day six days per week) - Opportunity to learn, perform, and observe the entire construction of a house-Physically labor-intensive
