Reported to the Senior Operations Manager of a newly constructed 1.2M square foot fulfillment center in Chattanooga, TN. Directed all process paths and warehouse activities for inbound operations consisting of 200 associates and an inventory of 1.5M unique product offerings.

The homes are built in 36 manufacturing facilities and distributed across the US through a network of 1,500 independent and company-owned retailers. Clayton Homes employs 8,000 people.Director of Lean Manufacturing · Reporting to the President of Operations, joined Clayton in newly created role to design, develop and lead the strategic implementation of Lean Manufacturing and associated training programs for 36 low-volume, medium/high mix manufacturing facilities across the US. Average facility throughput is 2 to 7 homes per day. · Led process transitions through development of "Best Practices" and their implementation with all manufacturing teams to ultimately improve and positively impact end products and customer experience. These transitions were instrumental in a 7% reduction in year over year operating costs for the entire manufacturing group. · Developed and executed training programs to better understand and improve customer satisfaction (Net Promoter Score) indices. Facilitated training seminars with sales teams across the country in conjunction with two hundred retailers resulting in 16% positive growth in one year. · Advanced leader development in the organization through course creation and primary instruction for front line leaders.

Japanese-based Denso is among the largest automotive parts manufacturers and supplies OEM and aftermarket components and systems for most of the world's automakers. Its six product groups include systems for powertrain control, information and safety, electric, electronic, small motors, and thermal systems. The Athens, TN facility is one of 12 US manufacturing facilities with 1,000 employees and 583,000 square feet of operating space. The Athens facility manufactures oxygen sensors, direct ignition systems, spark plugs, fuel injectors, air flow meters, and ceramic substrate. • Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, and directing a team of 150, worked closely with Japanese leadership team, to drive results and improve operations in Athens, TN facility. Developed and managed four value streams, driving change to achieve the future state in each. • Created plan and launched start-up operations of second shift for seven oxygen sensor manufacturing lines with 90% newly hired associates while reducing training time by 50% and meeting all operational targets. • Led the planning and implementation for transition of direct ignition system in the US from Japan including process and line design. Reduced operating budget by 50% ($500k) after one year of production. This process included plastic extrusion, metal stamping, winding, and epoxy resin encasement. • Led the development and international transition of first overseas manufacturing of Monolithic Carrier ceramic substrate process. Initial process was kiln firing ceramic parts, but ultimately transitioned ceramic mixing, extrusion, cutting and multiple-kiln firing. Significantly improved quality of product by 33% reduction in defects through process analysis. • Advanced leadership development by planning and implementing a training program for newly assigned leaders.
